Mika Vanhanen has been shortlisted for the United Nations International Year of Forests – Forest Heroes Award,
one of only three individuals being considered for the prestigious European
category. The five winners (one from each continent) will be announced and awarded at the Forests 2011 Closing Ceremonies on the 9th of February 2012 at the United Nations in New York. UN will
feature the stories and work of all five winners on the International Year of
the Forest 2011 website to inspire and influence all of us.
Vanhanen was
nominated for the award by European Forest Institute and supported by Jane
Goodall Institute and ENO schools around the world.
He is recognized about tree planting campaign in the Environment Online -ENO, a global virtual school for sustainable development that he founded 11 years
